Paver Stones — Mountain View, CA
Paving Stone Patio
A before picture of the backyard patio area:
For this little paver stone patio located in Mountain View, CA we used Belgard Catalina Stone and mixed colors to give it a livelier and unique look. The paving stone color combination is Toscana and Victorian with a solid toscana border for the border, wall and bullnose steps.
We service the Bay Area: San Jose, Saratoga, Sunnyvale, Los Gatos, Cupertino, Los Altos, Menlo Park and neighboring cities.

Adding a Putting Green and Retaining Wall
We had to do quite a lot of extra demolition to bring the second half of the patio lower down to the landscape level. This was done in order to follow up after the main patio with a putting green. For our work, we focused on the paving stone patio, retaining wall, and steps, as well as some lights built into the wall and steps to give it some accent at night.
Wall Blocks and Border Pavers
This patio went from two hundred square feet to seven hundred square feet. We extended and widened the main patio area and wrapped the pavers along the side of the house. In order to make the patio level and, more importantly, secure, we reinforced the perimeter with wall blocks and placed the border pavers over the wall blocks in order to make it look uniform.
Paving Stones for the Steps
Since the patio was leveled and the landscape below was leveled over a foot lower, we needed some steps to get down to the future putting green. We mirrored the house steps with Belgard Bullnose paving stones in the same color.
The matching steps to the house are now two steps rather than one small step as it was originally. We widened the steps to the entire width of the window to make it look framed in. We also raised the step so when the owner walks out it's not an immediate step down. Now she can walk straight out three feet then step out the the second step then onto the patio. Since the patio is larger now, she'll have plenty of space to walkout and enough space for patio furniture.

Belgard Paving Stones
On a previous driveway paver project, we mixed Belgard Victorian and Bella and I really like the way that combination looked. I equally like the way this paving stone patio looks with the same mix; just with the Toscana rather than the Bella. It's a little more vibrant and makes a bolder statement, which our client really likes.
One thing I like about working with the Belgard Paving stones is that their calibrations are spot on. By that I mean that all the paving stones are the same thickness unlike the Calstone Quarry Stone. That one I find a little hit and miss with their manufacturing process, thus causing frustration for both client and crew and leaves us spending unnecessary time trying to correct the issue one paver at time. Calstone can sure learn a lesson from Belgard in this respect.
Another nice thing about working with the Belgard paving stones, is that they offer many of the same colors throughout their paving stone line up, which allows us to mix and match for creative effect.
