Paving Stone Driveway Project
— Saratoga, CA
Tan Red Charcoal is probably one of the most popular colors around. Anyone who likes red seems to gravitate toward this color combination. For this Saratoga paving stone driveway we used a paver from Pacific Interlock Pavers based out of San Jose.
This house is a brand new construction which has been a work in progress for a couple of years now. As with most newly built homes, the driveway and the landscape are last on the list.

Creating a Beautiful Landscape
Once we finished the driveway, our landscaper came in and worked his magic. Then our mason built the columns and the iron fence.
It's rare that I get a picture after the landscape is complete. It seems I'm usually too busy to come back at the right time of day to get a decent shot without the sun and the shadows messing up the photo. It's usually a couple pictures as we're leaving and moving on to the next project.
I'm so glad that our landscaper can bring the whole project together. He has showed me many of our projects after the landscaping work was done and I'll be working getting some better photos of our past projects and updating the site.
Using Paving Stones
The tan red charcoal paving stones go well with the house and the ledger stonework found along the house and the columns. For the columns we used a different style cap on top of the column and set the lights in the center of the cap.
Once the plants take hold and start to grow, this place will look even better than it does now.

Choosing a Paver Pattern
People often ask about which pattern to choose or what the border is going to look like. For us, every project is different and there's often a number of variables based on the client's needs. There are a number of patterns to choose from and a number of ways we can lay out the borders.
For this paver stone driveway in Saratoga, CA we used a simple pattern and tilted it to a 45 degree angle. This sets it apart, but not to the extent that it draws too much attention. For the border we just used the most common paving stone border, which is called a soldier border; the same size paving stone set along the perimeter.
High Quality Work on all Paver Projects
This particular driveway also leads back to a beautiful patio with a garden wall, a fire pit and some nice and relatively low maintenance landscaping. On the other side of the house, not seen in the photos, we installed a walkway that also leads to a couple of different entrances as well as the patio.
This was a good sized project and most folks think we only work on high-end homes or estates, but the fact is most of our projects are updating and/or upgrading regular houses throughout the peninsula and south bay. We like to think that we do high-quality work for a fair price, but you should have us come out to look at your project to make that determination for yourself.
So, if you have a paving stone driveway or a paving stone patio project that you're thinking about don't hesitate to call us.
